“Corrie has a knack of getting very quickly to the issue at hand and offers a new way of thinking as well as ideas to move my art along. Her support has been invaluable and inspiring allowing me to approach art with more freedom and less judgement. I see so many possibilities now that I would have missed before.” -Jollean
INDIVIDUAL ARTIST MENTORSHIP
I am excited to begin offering one-to-one visual artist support. The support will be thoughtful, caring and meeting you where you are at in your work and ideas.
Each session is 50 minutes online or in person within biking distance of downtown ‘victoria’. You are invited to send me visual or written work to look at beforehand. If you are looking for content (not grammatical) editing we will talk in person up to 30 minutes and I will send my notes on your written work.
Sliding scale per session: $85 – 150.
*Up to 2 single spaced pages. We can discuss prices for more written content.
“I have participated in several of Corrie’s classes and worked with her one-on-one many times. Whenever someone tells me they are struggling to stay motivated or find a connection in their art practice, I recommend joining any community that Corrie is hosting, whether it’s a formal class or a meet-up. Corrie provides deeply resonant readings and examples that are often new to me. She listens with generosity and attention, always offering encouraging and thoughtful comments. I can’t count the number of times Corrie has asked me a question that opened up new avenues for me and helped me overcome blockages.
In addition, I frequently seek Corrie’s assistance with grants and applications. She consistently helps me refine my message while ensuring my voice remains intact. I genuinely believe that her care and attention have contributed to my success on numerous occasions. As an arts educator myself, being in Corrie’s classrooms and meeting spaces has modelled the kind of community I aspire to create in my own learning environments. ” – Michelle
GROUP ARTIST SUPPORT
I am opening up the format and offerings of my monthly online artist support to self-organized groups.
These are available in 1 week to 6 week sessions.
Each session is 3 hours long and can meet online or in my studio in downtown ‘victoria’
I am running these for a flat fee of $240 per session and can accommodate up to 6 participants.
Please get in touch to discuss availability.
“Care, sensitivity, and inspiration. (the three words that come to mind when I think of Corrie’s teaching style)
Corrie is a sensitive facilitator of the creative process. Corrie empowers her students to trust their own ideas, stories, and experiences. Her inquisitive and caring nature helps any artist to locate their ideas in a broader context. I especially appreciated the structure that Corrie designs into her sessions, artfully weaving inspiration with a process-based practice that builds upon itself week by week. If you want to deepen your artistic practice I would highly recommend Corrie’s individualized support!” -Jessie
ARTIST BOOKS: START TO FINISH
Over the four weeks, you will engage in the process of creating your own hardcover and bound artist book, working from idea to finished product. Come with your own ideas, or be inspired by contemporary artists presented in class. You will be guided through creating and developing text, artwork, layout format and cover design as you make your own one of a kind book. Students will leave with a glue and cloth bound book about a subject of their choice and the experience of moving through the full creative process.
MENDING MADE VISIBLE. in person.
Visible mending is the act of highlighting the stitches you use to repair something. This six-week course will provide an opportunity for you to mend and transform domestic items in need of repair into objects of beauty. Every week we will review the words and artworks of people involved in the act of repairing our world. You will be encouraged to work with items close to you because the work of repair begins with each of us, and your mending will serve as metaphor of art and action in the world. The course will focus on the slow skills used to repair woven and knit fabrics, and opportunity to connect this work to your art practice through discussion and optional extensions for your assignments.
TUESDAYS, MAY 13 – JUN 17, 10AM – 1PM at Vancouver Island School of Art

REPRODUCIBLE ARTIST BOOKS. weekend workshop
Artist books can be intimate, share ideas, hold memory… they are as diverse as artists themselves. This course will focus on introductory methods of paper folding and sewn and stapled book binding that allow you to make books you can easily reproduce and/or adapt for your creative projects. The class will be inspired by hands on examples of zines and other reproduced contemporary artist books. For the content of your books we will explore collage that includes text, hand sewing, photographs and more. This is an opportunity for you to bring out your momentos – photos, fabric, paper – and make them a home.
MAY 31 & JUNE 1 10am – 1pm. Registration details coming soon.
